Dr.
Alpher earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology
from the University of Maryland, and his Doctorate of Dental
Surgery from Georgetown University Dental School. He completed
a residency program at Providence Hospital, and postgraduate
studies in Oral Pathology and Periodontics at the Walter Reed
Army Institute of Research.
Dr. Alpher is Associate Clinical Professor of Surgery, at
George Washington University Medical Center and Clinical Assistant
Professor of Otolaryngology at Georgetown University Medical
Center. He is board certified in Pain Management from The
American Academy of Pain Management, and holds a Diplomate
in The Academy of Craniofacial Pain, as well as a Mastership
from The International College of Craniomandibular Orthopedics.
He is also on staff at National Rehabilitation Hospital, Prince
Georges Medical Center and Providence Hospital. Dr. Alpher
is currently on the medical committee at National Rehabilitation
Hospital's department of sleep medicine, as well as the
sleep team at George Washington University Medical Center utilizing a comprehensive
medical/dental approach to treat sleep disturbances.
Dr. Alpher was responsible for the creation of the oral screening
program at the U. S. Department of State in 1980 through 1992,
and served as a consultant to their medical department.
For over 30 years, Dr. Alpher has specialized in the field
of craniofacial pain disorders and has been actively involved
in the treatment and study of (TMD) temporomandibular disorders,
a group of conditions that affect the jaw and the muscles
that control chewing. In 1985, he founded the Metropolitan
Area Craniofacial Pain Center, P.C., in Washington D.C., where
he has continued to successfully treat individuals who suffer
with these disorders through conservative, non-surgical methods.
Another focus of Dr. Alpher's practice is the treatment of
sleep apnea and snoring through the use of dental appliance
therapy. He has pioneered a conservative, non - invasive approach
utilizing computerized and verifiable diagnostic methods to
treat craniofacial pain as well as sleep disorders. This method
of treatment has proven to be greatly successful, and is highly
regarded as the first method of choice by physicians and patients.
Over the past two decades, Dr. Alpher has worked diligently
to generate public awareness of the various aspects of craniofacial
pain disorders. He has lectured throughout the United States,
as well as Europe and South America, and has authored, co-authored
and published many studies on TMD and sleep disorders.
Dr. Alpher is a Diplomate in the American Academy of Craniofacial
Pain, Diplomate to the American Academy of Pain Management,
member of The American Academy of Sleep Medicine, Diplomate
to The American Board of Forensic Examiners, and is a Fellow
in The American Academy of General Dentistry. He is also a
member of The American Dental Association, District of
Columbia Dental Society, The Foundation for the Advancement
of Implants and Transplants and he is also a member of
Maimonides Medical Society.
Dr Alpher has limited his practice to the treatment of craniofacial
pain disorders, and the fabrication of oral appliances for
sleep apnea and snoring. He currently practices as Director
of the Metropolitan Area Craniofacial Pain Center at 1901
Pennsylvania Ave, N.W., Washington, D.C.

Petrina who is our newest member of our
team is the office manager who heads up our front
office. She received her bachelors of science in
business management from Barry University in Miami
Florida. Petrina has her license as a medical
technician and an EMT basic. Petrina is also
enrolled in nursing courses. We are delighted to
have Petrina join our practice and we know you will
find her to be a delight to work with and helpful in
every way.

Roxanne
is our myotherapist, and has been in the medical/dental
field for over 21 years. She has been associated with the
practice for five years, and works exclusively with Dr.Alpher in all
aspects of the diagnostic as well as treatment procedures.
She treats each and every patient with the utmost care and
consideration. Roxanne has been married to Louis for 28 years,
and is the mother of two children, and the proud grandmother
of four.

Lee
is Dr. Alpher's administrator, and has been in the medical/dental
field for over 40 years. She has been associated with Dr.
Alpher's practice for 30 years. She is currently only working
part-time. She is always willing to answer any question you
may have, including the possibility of special financial arrangements.
Lee has been married for 37 years, and has two grown children,
and is the very proud grandmother of three. <top>

Amanda Donis is a Licensed Massage Therapist (LMT)
with 10 years experience. She has worked in a variety of
clinical settings over the past 4 years while in the
Washington D.C area, such as: Chiropractic, Osteopathic,
and Physical Therapy offices. This has provided her with
solid experience in a wide range of soft tissue
problems. Her massage treatments combine an eclectic
range of modalities acquired over 10 years of
professional practice. Her training includes strong
emphasis on deep tissue and clinical massage techniques:
Authentic, John Barnes Myofascial Release, Orthopedic
massage, hot stone, sports massage and therapeutic
stretches; Ms Donis is also experienced in reflexology
and prenatal massage. Amanda is truly excited to be a
